Metal Braces
Metal braces are the most widely used type of braces. They are made of 3 parts, metal wire, brackets and elastics to connect the two. The brackets are made from a special alloy of stainless steel and are attached to teeth with the help of a special gum. Then the wire is attached to the brackets with the help of elastics. You can choose your own set of colours for these elastics. It's the wire that applies the pressure on the teeth to move them into their ideal position. Each tooth has its specific size and shape. We at smile matters, customize each bracket as per the individual tooth. To start with, the wire is thinner and as the treatment proceeds, the wire is tightened to encourage the movement of teeth to their ideal position. This whole process improves your oral health by giving your straighter, stronger and healthier teeth.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces work in a similar way to metal braces but they have a unique benefit. They are made from glass or ceramic-like material and are translucent. They blend perfectly to the colour of the teeth when they are fitted. Ceramic material resists both straining and discolouration throughout the whole course of the treatment. Just like conventional metal braces, ceramic braces are made of brackets, wire and elastics. These work together to move teeth to their proper positions. The wire is tightened over time. Ceramic braces are subtle and work as fast as metal braces.

Lingual Braces
Lingual braces work just like metal and ceramic braces. However, unlike them, they are fixed on the back of the teeth. Lingual braces apply constant and soft pressure to move your teeth to their best possible position. Their position behind the teeth makes them virtually invisible to the outside world. This appeals to many adults, especially who work in PR, Marketing and are Acting Professionals. Lingual braces are also made up of brackets, wire and elastics. Each bracket is uniquely made as per the need of the individual patient. So, every person each tooth will have a custom-made bracket. The wire applies gentle pressure to realign your teeth and over time it is tightened.
A word of caution, not all orthodontists are trained to do a lingual orthodontics procedure, so be sure to check whether your orthodontist was trained to do a lingual orthodontics procedure. Our orthodontist has received specialized training in India and well as abroad to use lingual appliances like Incognito™ (3M Unitek), eBrace™ (Riton Biomaterial), Harmony™ (AO) under national and international stalwarts of the field.
Self-ligating Braces
Self-ligating Braces are technological advancement of traditional braces. Self-ligating braces are made up of brackets and wire. Traditional Braces require an elastic band to attach the wire to the respective brackets. Self-ligating brackets come with a special clip that allows for greater freedom. These clips drastically reduce the friction caused by the elastics and thus work faster than their traditional counterparts.
